Most projects do not end at launch; they carry on into Care, where we look after the site under a retainer. Offboarding is the other path: when a retainer ends, or a project was always a one-off, we hand everything over and step back cleanly. Either way, you own the site.
What is Care, and how is it different?
Care is what happens instead of offboarding when you stay. It is the quiet model: updates applied, the site swept for problems, server-level backups taken every morning, external cloud backups for WordPress sites and a backup arrangement built into anything bespoke, and a monthly note from Richard saying what we did for you. A change request or an alert starts a new one-page intent and goes back through the process at the right size, which for most changes is a short plan and an afternoon.
The retainers that include Care, and what each covers, are on the pricing page. If you are not sure whether you need it, the honest test is whether anyone in your business would notice a broken form or an expired certificate before a customer did.
What do we hand over?
Credentials first. Any that were ours are revoked. Any that are yours are handed to you, and our access to them is removed from our own tools. Nothing of ours stays logged in to anything of yours.
Backups, in a form you can restore without us, along with a note on how. Hosting and domain authority confirmed with you: not assumed, confirmed, so that a renewal notice next year lands in your inbox and not ours. And a short handover note saying what is where, what runs on what, and who holds each key.
What do we keep?
Our own notes on the project, for a year, so that if you come back or need to recover something, the context is there. After that they are removed. Any personal data of named people in those notes was redacted when it was written, so what is kept is the shape of the work, not the private detail of it.
We keep no access. We keep no copies of your credentials, because we never stored them in the first place; each one was fetched when it was needed and not written down.
Can you come back?
Yes. A returning project starts at discovery, because your business and your site have both moved on. Our notes make that a resume rather than a cold start. And if the reason you left was something we could have done better, we would rather hear it than guess.
