We host and manage websites with two suppliers, Krystal, a UK host running LiteSpeed servers on renewable energy, and Cloudflare, one of the largest networks on the internet. Managed shared hosting is £40 a month or £400 a year, and managed private hosting, a package that is just yours, is £60 a month or £600 a year, both plus VAT. Domains are from £20 a year. Hosting is included in Marbl Studio and Marbl Stewardship.

What does Marbl Codes hosting include?
Every hosting plan we sell is managed: SSL, a firewall and bot protection, regular backups and monitoring, with us watching the site and fixing problems, usually before the owner has noticed anything. There are two tiers. Managed shared hosting is £40 a month or £400 a year, and your site sits alongside other client websites we look after. Managed private hosting is £60 a month or £600 a year, and the hosting package is just yours. Both are plus VAT.
Hosting is the part of a website nobody thinks about until it breaks. A slow host costs you visitors and search rankings. An unwatched one is how sites get hacked. An expired domain can take the website and the email down on the same morning. That is why we treat hosting, domains and email as one service and look after all three.
Who do we host with?
We use two suppliers, for different jobs, and we are happy to say who they are.
Krystal hosts most of the websites we build and manage. It is an independent UK hosting company, founded in 2002 and a certified B Corp. Its web servers run LiteSpeed with built-in caching, which is quick for WordPress, and its data centres run on 100% renewable energy from the sun, wind and sea, supplied by Ecotricity. Backups are taken daily and kept off-site.
Cloudflare is one of the largest networks on the internet, with data centres in more than 330 cities across 125 countries, including London, and it sits in front of around a fifth of all websites. A site hosted there is served from the data centre nearest each visitor, with protection from attacks built in. We use it for specific builds, such as fast Astro sites and web applications. This website runs on Cloudflare.
Why is hosting a separate line from the build?
Because it is an ongoing cost that never stops, and hiding it inside a build price only means it turns up later as a surprise. We write it on its own line so you always know what the site costs to keep running. On Marbl Studio and Marbl Stewardship it is included in the plan.
We charge a little more than going direct to a host, and we are open about why. The price covers our time managing the site, AI-based support and monitoring, and a team that knows your website when something needs doing.
How do you keep a website fast and secure?
Speed comes from how a site is served: caching, compression, images sized for the screen and a server close to the visitor. Security comes from keeping everything updated, putting a firewall in front of the site, blocking bad bots and keeping regular backups. We set all of that up properly rather than leaving it on defaults, and we monitor it.
What about my domain and email?
We register domains for you and renew them on time, so your website and email never disappear because a card expired. We manage the DNS, which is the address book that tells the internet where your website and email live, so changes are made by someone who knows what each record does.
For email, we set up Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 on your own domain and configure the authentication records that keep your messages out of spam folders. An email address on your own domain looks more trustworthy than a free one, and it stays yours if you ever change provider.
Can you just host a site someone else built?
Yes, as long as it is safe to host. We check the site before moving it, tell you about anything that needs fixing first, and then move it without interrupting your visitors or your email.

Yes. We copy the site, test it on our hosting, then switch the domain over at a quiet moment so visitors and email are not interrupted. If the site needs work before it can move safely, we tell you first.
Yes. The domain is yours. We manage the renewal and the DNS so you do not have to, and if you ever leave we hand it over to you.
Yes. We set up Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, move existing mailboxes where needed, and configure the records that prove your email is really from you, which is what keeps it out of spam. The Workspace or 365 licence is billed by the provider.
